Assist the Director of Sports Medicine with all aspects of the Sports Medicine department; provide medical coverage for athletic teams as assigned; attend practices and attend both home and away competitions as necessary; assist with inventory management; assist with administration of the in-house drug testing program; supervise athletic training/work-study students and other duties as assigned. Primary responsibilities include providing the services for the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes.

You are:

You will:
- Utilize the appropriate application of emergency procedures in the evaluation and treatment of injuries; provide first aid; documentation of care; recommend referrals as needed; and effective communication with coaches and physicians in the care and treatment of student-athletes.
- Provide coverage for pre-practice, practice, post-practice and game-day coverage as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Assist with pre-participation screening and assessment of student-athletes.
- Provide primary sports coverage as well as assist with the assigning of sports medicine coverage for all sports, including the coverage of team practices and home/away contests as required.
- Maintain detailed medical record keeping for all athletic injuries and illnesses. These should include, but not be limited to, injury reports, treatment records and insurance forms in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Work closely with doctors, coaches and sports performance staff.
- Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in the insurance processing, billing and claim identification processes.
- Assist in coordinating and conducting pre-participation procedures and paperwork with University Health Services, Associate Athletics Director for NCAA Compliance, and coaches.
- All other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine and Athletic Director.
You need:
- Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited program
- Board of Certification (BOC) Certification
- Connecticut State Athletic Training Licensure
- Professional CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
