Associate Professor, National Security Chair

The Department of National Security in the Lee College at the University of New Haven invites nominations and applications for a professor of National Security and Department Chair at either the Associate or Full Professor rank.

The University of New Haven’s National Security department includes a dynamic undergraduate program encompassing four distinct bachelor’s degrees (Security & Defense Policy, Intelligence Analysis, Homeland Security, and International Affairs), a robust master’s degree program, and several practitioner-oriented certificates.

You need:

· Previous higher education administrative experience as a leader of an academic department, and/or academic program.

· Experience with recruiting students from diverse populations.

· Policymaking experience in national security at either the federal, state, or local level.

· Ability to establish formal academic-policymaking partnerships with outside agencies is especially desirable.

· A terminal degree in national security, public policy, political science, or related field is required; Ph.D. preferred.

· The successful applicant will have teaching experience at the university level, established catalog of academic or policy publications, and/or an innovative research agenda.

· Applicants should also possess experience in university-level service or leadership in a government agency.

· Tenurable Assistant Professors may also be considered in accordance with these qualifications, specifically prior policymaking experience in national security or homeland security.
